A 100% Brazilian standard

Brasil Mata Viva is a Brazilian standard dedicated to valuing the rural landowner, so as to achieve its principal objective of harmonizing human activity by promoting the conservation of biodiversity, and incentivizing the rational use of natural resources, thus benefitting the citizens of today as well as future generations.

We believe that rural landowners are a key factor in preserving the environment, as they are nature’s main guardians. When recognized and fairly compensated, they will play with dignity, this role, which is essential for life on the planet.

From a single methodology with valuation and legitimating parameters of this new productive activity, the rural landowner is paid with funds intended to the environmental preservation and conservation payment, with funds from companies that are benefited from tax incentives (being tax deductible) for their donations, and also with the positive image of his attitude of environmental responsibility.

Through Payment for Environmental Services - PSA, the BMV Methodology (Brasil Mata Viva Methodology) provides resources to the producers that will be used for the introduction of new sustainable technologies for land use, and for the establishment of processing units that will add value to the rural production, recomposition and recovery of areas.

This initiative improves living conditions of the rural producer and the community as well as guaranteeing benefits for all of mankind through the preservation, conservation and consolidation of the biodiversity corridors.

The Brasil Mata Viva Methodology is already a success. It is estimated that the first nucleus will benefit over 1,000 rural producers in areas ranging from 15ha to 10.000 ha. The projects are supervised and have the support by the three divisions of the government, prosecutors and IBAMA (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources).
